On the Designer tab, the palette with the elements as icons is on the left, the design surface on the right.
- Insert: Drag an element from the palette onto the design surface. For a table or chart, Select table type first asks for the type, see Tables.
- Move: Drag the element to another position; holding down Ctrl creates a copy.
- Size: The elements share the area; drag the edges.
- Configure: Right-clicking an element opens its menu — with Designer for the settings and the formula, Delete and, depending on the element, further commands.
The elements
| Element | The formula returns | Settings |
|---|---|---|
| Label | any value: number, text, time span, point in time, state | Labels |
| Table | one value per column and row | Tables |
| Chart | one number or time span per series | Charts |
| Digital display | any value; longer text scrolls | wizard with Digital gauge, Background, Effects, Labels, Formula, Digit design, Ranges |
| Digital gauge | a number | like the digital display |
| Circular gauges: full circle, half circle, three-quarter and quarter circle, plus the Haze and Ignis gauges with images | a number | wizard with Circular gauge, Scales, Background, Needles, Range bars, Markers, Spindle caps, Effects, State indicators, Labels, Formula |
| Linear gauge, vertical and horizontal | a number | wizard with Linear gauge, Effects, Background, Levels, Markers, Ranges, State indicators, Labels, Scales, Formula |
| State indicators: traffic light, smiley, arrow, currency, light bulb, flag | a number that selects a state | State indicators |
| Browser | – | an address, see Browser and image |
| Image | – | an image file, see Browser and image |
For gauges, the menu also offers Choose style with ready-made designs.
Gauges and state indicators need a number. Convert a time span in the
formula, for example Conversations.Max(QueuedTimeSpan).TotalSeconds. If a
gauge cannot show a valid value — for example after a division by zero — it
shows 0.
Labels
Designer opens the Label designer:
| Tab | Contents |
|---|---|
| Formula | the formula. It is checked with every entry; if it contains errors, the field changes color and the error appears below it. |
| Font | typeface and style; the size follows the height of the element |
| Background color | a fixed color. With Backcolor by ranges, the ranges color the background instead of the text. |
| Alignment | Near left, Center centered, Far right; Default as preset |
| Ranges | colors depending on the value, see Ranges |
| Format pattern | only for numbers and points in time, see Format patterns |
The label shows states translated, yes/no as Yes and No, time spans as hh:mm:ss and points in time in the local time of the computer. If a text does not fit the width, it scrolls.
Tables
When inserting a table, you choose what it shows one row for:
| Type | One row per |
|---|---|
| Agent | agent |
| Contact | running conversation |
| Alarm | active alarm |
| Skill | skill |
| Language | language |
| Time | interval of the real-time statistics, for example every quarter of an hour |
| Conversation Type | conversation type |
| Conversation state | state of a conversation |
| Histogram | bin of the real-time statistics, for example “5s - 10s” |
A new table has a name column and a count column; adapt both. The menu of the table contains:
- Add column — creates a column and immediately opens its designer with the tabs Formula (with the column header under “Name”), Background color, Ranges and Format pattern. Right-clicking a column header offers Designer and Delete column.
- Row formula — a condition that decides which rows appear, for example
IsLoginfor logged-in agents only. - Font — the font of the table.
- Transparent cells or Colored cells — switches the colors of the cells.
In a column formula, you address the fields of the row directly — Name,
QueuedTimeSpan — or via Row, for example Row.Name. All other data remain
available; see Formulas.
Charts
A chart also has a table type; it determines the points on the horizontal axis — per interval, state, conversation type, agent, skill and so on. Designer opens the chart wizard with the Formula page: there, each Series has a Formula that returns a number or time span for each point; the chart converts time spans into seconds. Row formula filters the points as for tables.
State indicators
A state indicator has several states — the traffic light, for example, four, the smiley five. On the Ranges page, you set a State index and an Upper bound for each row. The first state whose upper bound the value does not exceed is displayed; if the value is greater than all upper bounds, the highest one.
Browser and image
- Browser shows a web page. Designer asks for the address (URL). The page is loaded once when the address changes; links and the context menu are locked.
- Image shows an image, for example a company logo. Designer opens the file selection. The image is copied into the display element; if you change the file later, the display does not change. Large images make the display element large — use images in screen size.
Ranges
Labels, table columns and digital displays color their values via the Ranges page:
| Result of the formula | Columns | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| yes/no, text, state | Value, Color | applies for exactly this value |
| number, time span, point in time | Lower bound, Upper bound, Color | applies from the lower bound up to just below the upper bound; if both are equal, for exactly this value |
The first matching row applies; if none matches, the default color remains. The color applies to the text, with Backcolor by ranges to the background. If you change the formula so that it returns another type, adapt the ranges.
Format patterns
For numbers and points in time, choose a Format pattern from the list or
type in a .NET format pattern of your own; the preview shows the result.
Examples: n1 for a number with one decimal place, #,# with thousands
separators, HH:mm for the time of day, dddd, d MMMM yyyy for a date
written out in full. Time spans always appear as hh:mm:ss; you create another
format in the formula, for example QueuedTimeSpan.ToString("mm\:ss").
