Setting up workstations

How to install the Agent, Administration and Wallboard on the workstations, how they find the server and how to specify registration points for all users.

You install the Agent, Administration and Wallboard on the workstations with their packages — see Installation packages. They run with the rights of the logged-in Windows user.

Agent

  1. Install the Agent package. It places myContactCenter Agent on the desktop and in the Start menu.
  2. At the first start, the Agent asks for the Dispatchers in the Set registration points dialog — see The connection to the server. If you specify the registration points in advance, the dialog does not appear; see Defaults for all users.
  3. Under Devices, select the microphone and speakers, for example a headset — see Devices. Without selected devices, the Agent cannot accept or dial calls.

The softphone of the Agent registers on the phone system with the agent’s extension. The phone system and ports come from the PBX tab of the server configuration; nothing needs to be set on the workstation for this. The package opens the ports required for this in Windows Firewall — see Firewall.

  • Links from other programs. The package registers the Agent as the program for tel:, callto: and mailto:. For a click on such a link to land in the Agent, select the Agent in the Windows default apps for these link types.
  • Terminal server. The Agent runs per Windows session. If the session has no audio devices, the check can be turned off — see DisableTerminalServerDetection under Settings files.
  • Network. The Agent needs the Dispatcher, the server, the Logger, the SQL Server for reports and the phone system — see Ports and connections.

Administration

  1. Install the Admin package. It places myContactCenter Admin on the desktop and in the Start menu.
  2. Start the Administration and enter the server with Add Server — see Starting and logging in.

The Administration connects directly to the server, not through the Dispatcher, and reads the data for reports and dashboards directly from SQL Server. Its version must be at least that of the server — see Which versions work together.

Wallboard

  1. Install the Wallboard package on the computer that drives the screen.
  2. The Wallboard Configurator starts by itself. On the Set registration points page, enter the Dispatchers under Registration Point 1 and Registration Point 2, click Start and then Finish.
  3. Start the Wallboard with myContactCenter Wallboard on the desktop.

The Wallboard does not have its own dialog for the registration points; it reads them from its settings file, which the configurator creates in the program folder. Without the configurator — for example after an installation without a user interface — create the file yourself, as C:\Program Files\ilogixx GmbH\myContactCenter\Wallboard\appsettings.json:

{
  "RegistrationPoints": [ "cc-dispatcher1", "cc-dispatcher2" ]
}

What the Wallboard shows is set in the Administration — see Setting up wallboards and The Wallboard program.

Defaults for all users

The Agent and the Administration store their settings per Windows user in the user’s profile. A settings file appsettings.json in the program folder serves them as a template for all users of the computer — see Settings files. This way, you can, for example, specify the registration points for all agents of a computer, as C:\Program Files\ilogixx GmbH\myContactCenter\Agent\appsettings.json:

{
  "RegistrationPoints": [ "cc-dispatcher1", "cc-dispatcher2" ]
}

The Agent applies them at every start as long as a user has not entered their own; the Set registration points dialog then does not appear. Distribute the file together with the package, for example with an installation without prompts.
