Arranging and styling

Arranging items in the dashboard, groups and tabs, captions and names, colors, colors by condition, the title of the dashboard and parameters.

Arranging

  • Move: Drag an item by its header; if it has none, by the icon at the top left. A marker shows where it lands — next to, above or below another item.
  • Size: Drag the border between two items. Where four items meet, a marker switches between dividing into rows and into columns.
  • Maximize: Maximize in the header of an item shows it across the whole dashboard, Restore returns it to its place.
  • The dashboard always fills the window; there is no fixed size.
  • Undo and Redo are in the Quick Access Toolbar and under Home › History.

Groups and tabs

  • Home › Insert › Group creates a frame; drag items into it. Groups cannot be nested. How a group limits filters is described in Filters in groups and tabs.
  • Home › Insert › Tab Container creates tabs, initially with one page; you add further pages with the plus sign. Drag items and groups onto the pages; there are no tabs within tabs.
  • Reorder Tabs under Tab Container Tools › Design opens Tabs Order.
  • Display Item as Page under Page Tools › Design: if a page contains only one item, page and item share one header. This is switched on from the start.

Caption and names

Design › Show Caption hides or shows the header of an item. Design › Edit Names opens Edit Names: there you change the Dashboard item name and the names of the sections, for example of the columns of a grid. For the date filter, you find both in the context menu.

Colors

Charts, scatter charts, pies, treemaps and range filters color their values:

  • Global Colors, the default: a value has the same color in all items, for example InboundCall — even if a filter hides other values.
  • Local Colors: each item assigns its colors itself.

You switch under Design › Coloring. Edit Colors — under Home › Dashboard for the global colors, under Design › Coloring for the local ones — opens Global Color Scheme or Local Color Scheme. There you choose a Color for a Value; New Value… adds a value that does not occur yet. In the context menu of a value, Retain this color fixes the color, Reset and Reset all release it again.

Which dimension determines the colors is set in the menu of the dimension under Color by: Default, Hue or None.

Colors by condition

Grid, pivot, chart, scatter chart and cards color values according to rules, for example long wait times in red.

  1. Menu of the data item › Add Format Rule › the type of rule.
  2. In the window of the rule, enter the threshold. Under Apply to, choose which data item is colored, under Appearance the formatting, for example Pale Red. Apply to row colors the whole row.
  3. Click OK.
Type Colors
Value values greater than, less than, equal to or between thresholds; for text equal, not equal or contains
Top/Bottom the top or bottom N values
Average values above or below the average
Expression rows to which an expression applies — also with a parameter
Icon Ranges, Color Ranges, Gradient Ranges with icons or colors per value range
Bar, Bar Color Ranges, Bar Gradient Ranges with a bar in the cell whose length follows the value

Texts only support Value and Expression. Charts do not show icons and bars, cards do not show bars.

Home › Item › Edit Rules or Edit Rules… in the menu shows all rules: you change and delete them, switch them off with the check box and order them with the arrows; if several apply, the lower one wins. Clear Rules in the menu removes all rules of a data item.

The title

Home › Dashboard › Title opens Dashboard Title:

  • Text: is the title and also the name of the dashboard in the list. A new dashboard is called “Dashboard” until you change that; the server does not save it without a title.
  • Visible shows the title bar; Show Master Filter state shows the selected filter values there.
  • Alignment: left, centered or right.
  • Image: Import embeds an image in the dashboard; Load only refers to the file, and the image is missing on computers that cannot reach the path. For dashboards that supervisors use, choose Import.

Home › Dashboard › Currency applies to amounts; the statistics of myContactCenter contain none.

Parameters

A parameter is a value that the viewer chooses in the dashboard, for example a threshold for the wait time.

  • Home › Dashboard › Parameters opens Parameters. On the left, you create parameters with Add and remove them with Remove; on the right, you set name, type and default value, plus Description — the text the viewer sees —, Visible, Allow Multiselect and under Look-Up Settings a list of possible values: fixed as a Static List or from a query as a Dynamic List.
  • You use a parameter in the filter as a comparison value, in calculated fields as [Parameters.Name] and in color rules of the Expression type. The queries of myContactCenter themselves do not accept parameters.
  • In the dashboard, the viewer sets the values using the Parameters button in the title bar.
